Die cuts and punches at Jade's Sparkling Butterflies

Hi everyone. Here is my DT card for the new challenge at Jade's Sparkling Butterflies.

Our sponsor for this fortnight is:

The image I have used is the super cute Benson Bear Couples, available to buy here.

This time the optional theme is Use Die Cuts or Punches. I've used the following dies:
X Cut Doilie Die
Trimcraft Torn Edge Nesting Dies
Sizzix Thinlits Butterflies
Tonic Pinhole Square Nesting Die

My papers are Trimcraft First Edition Love Story, which I've distressed with Tea Dye distress ink.

I printed the image onto Crafter's Companion Watercolour Card and I've used Spectrum Aqua markers blended with a little water for my colouring. I rarely use watercolours so I'm fairly happy with the result.

Spectrum Aqua colours used are:
Desert
Fawn
Bud Green
Moss
Blossom

You can join in our challenge here and please do follow the link to see all the other fabulous DT creations.

Thank you for visiting today and for all your lovely comments.

Autumn Leaves

Autumn seems to have come upon us so quickly this year, so I felt an Autumn card was very appropriate.

This card has been made using Trimcraft's new First Edition Falling Leaves paper pads. The papers in these pads are not just beautiful colours but the textures are fabulous too.

The stamp I've used is The Guide from the Santoro Willow collection. I stamped the image using Staz On ink on watercolour paper. I've used Spectrum Aqua markers to colour her in Autumn colours.

To make the leaves, I started by colouring some thin copier paper with Spectrum Aqua markers, applying the colours with a wet brush to get a wash effect. My using thin paper I not only achieved a crinkly texture like real leaves but also found the colour became mottled in places, an effect I really liked. I then die cut the leaves using X Cut leaf dies.

Spectrum Aqua colours used:
Leaves: Gold, Moss, Chestnut, Marigold
Image: Topaz, Crimson, Gold, Moss, Leaf Green

I would like to enter this card for the following challenges:

Fish Shaker Card

I have been making Teacher thank you cards and always get some unusual requests. One of my friends set me the challenge of making a card for her daughter's teacher with a fish theme and this is what I came up with.

I started by making the fish centrepiece. I used watercolour card and used a Spectrum Aqua marker in Kingfisher to make the water background. To do this I put ink onto a glass mat and used a wet paintbrush to pick up the colour and paint onto the card.

When this was dry, I stamped two fish, using Staz-on ink and coloured with Spectrum Aqua pens. I then die cut this image into a circle.

The next step was to cut a frame. I used the Trimcraft free papers from my last post. I stuck some paper on to card, then die cut a frame using two circle dies. I cut acetate slightly bigger that the aperture and attached this to the back of the frame using Cosmic Shimmer glue. I put some loose sequins into the centre of the fish topper then added the acetate and frame using Cosmic Shimmer around the outside only. If you want freer movement for the sequins, then foam pads should be used for this.

I then layered the card using the papers and kraft card, placing the fish topper in the centre and finishing with a few Docraft gems.

Products used:
Trimcraft free paper download, Dovecraft 6x6 Kraft card blanks, Bohemian sequins

Fish stamp free from Creative Stamping magazine.

Spectrum Aqua Pens: Kingfisher, Gold, Yellow
Crafter's Companion Acetate, Watercolour card
