One layout, two cards

Card layout challenges can be a great way for beginners to learn about card design and can also help more experienced crafters get new ideas. These challenges can be found in craft magazines, on blogs and on Facebook.
For these two cards, I have used the layout from the Trimcraft website May layout challenge. I wanted to see how different one layout can look when two very different collections are used.
The first card is a Bon Voyage card, but could easily be used for Father's Day or a birthday, with a change of sentiment. I have used Trimcraft First Edition Travel Notes papers for this card.
 Products used:
Trimcraft First Edition Travel Notes 8x8 paper pad, First Edition Nesting Stamp Dies
Docrafts All Aboard Washi Tape, Denim Dome Stickers

The second card uses the Trimcraft Helz Cuppleditch Fun Fair range. I love the ticket strip washi tape in this collection and wanted to use it on the card instead of a sentiment.
Products used:
Trimcraft Helz Cuppleditch Fun Fair 12x12 printed paper pack, 8x8 glittered paper pack, Decoupage Pad, Washi Tape and Wooden Buttons

Father's Day Tin

I have wanted to have a go at upcycling a coffee tin for a while now and finally got round to it today, making this bits 'n' bobs tin for Dad. These tins are great to use as they have no sharp edges, so this would be an ideal project to do with children for Father's Day. This tin has been decorated using Trimcraft's Travel Notes collection.
Instructions:
1. Cut a strip of blue card to the same depth as the tin and long enough to wrap around and overlap slightly at the back. Cut narrower strips of patterned paper to layer around the middle. I secured the paper around the tin using Cosmic Shimmer glue.
2. Wrap baker's twine around the tin and secure with tape. Add a homemade rosette (see my Belle and Boo Shutter card post for details of how to make these) with a personalised greeting.
This has found a home on my husband's desk already :-)
Products used:

Trimcraft Travel Notes 12x12 paper pad
Docrafts Papermania A4 card, Denim Collection Twine

Bohemian Butterfly Card (with gilded butterflies)

A few weeks ago, I won some Trimcraft Bohemian collection goodies.  It is such a pretty collection, with butterflies, birds, flowers and stags and a lovely colour palette too.

One of my favourite items in the collection are the wooden shapes. I chose to use butterfly shapes for this card. Although the shapes look great left as they are, I wanted this card to have a special feel, so chose to use gilding flakes to decorate them. I found that the adhesive on the back of the shapes was ideal for attaching the gilding flakes.

I also took the chance to use my Spectrum Noir pens on this card, stamping both the stag image and some small butterflies around it.

Full instructions for this card are available on my Trimcraft gallery.

Docrafts Owl Folk

As it's #docraftsmonday today, I thought I'd share two new Docrafts cards.

Owl cards are always very popular with my friends and so I was very excited by Docrafts new Owl Folk collection. As always with Docrafts, the collection is made up of papers of varying sizes, with lots of matching toppers and embellishments. The colours are really good two, folksy but very on trend.

For this card, I have used the Presscut Stepper die to cut a base card and to cut out the papers from the 6x6 paper pack. I found that the topper pack did not have any toppers which fitted the card shape, so I cut my own from the 12x12 paper pack, using Tonic layering dies.

I finished the cards with a bow, sentiment and punched flowers with pearl centres. Very simple but pretty and effective, I think.

Products used:
Docrafts Owl Folk 6x6 and 12x12 paper packs, Ribbon Bows, Die cut sentiments
Press cut Stepper die
Tonic Studios Oval and Rectangle layering dies, Flower punch

Belle and Boo Brag Book

I wanted to use the Belle and Boo collection for something other than cards and came up with the idea of a Brag Book, designed for my Mum to show off pictures of her grandchildren.

The book started life as a 4"x12" strip of Core'dinations card, folded like this:

Full instructions can be found on my Trimcraft gallery but here are some photos showing how I've decorated the card, with space to add pictures and even a pocket for momentos such as train tickets. I just love the finished result- and so does Grandma!

Products used:
Trimcraft Belle and Boo 6x6 papers, Ribbon (pirate hat) and Toppers
Core'dinations card
Tonic Oval Layering Dies
Creative Expressions Milk Foundation Card with printed sentiment

Bellissima birthday card

This card has been made using Docrafts Bellissima range. I love the way this collection has a modern feel, yet combines well with vintage elements such as lace trim and, my current favourite item, Dovecraft doilies.

To make this card I simply took a decorated card blank and layered it with a sheet of 6x6 paper (at a jaunty angle). I added lace trim, a ribbon and doilie before making up and fixing the centre decoupage sentiment. All edges, including the doilie, have been distressed using distress ink to add depth. The finishing touch is some punched butterflies and gemstones.

Products used:
Docrafts Papermania  Bellissima card blank, 6x6 Decoupage Kits, Ribbon, Gemstones
Hobbycraft adhesive lace trim
Tonic Studios Butterfly Punch
Dovecraft Doilie

Belle and Boo Birthday Card

First of all I have some very exciting news- my Pirate Shutter Card was named as project of the month on the Trimcraft website. You can read about it hereTrimcraft project of the month for April. This is especially exciting as I love Trimcraft products, particularly  Belle and Boo, and have already received a fantastic prize to make more lovely projects with.

Today's card is more Belle and Boo but this time it's a little girl's birthday card. I wanted the focus of the card to be the image and the fab papers but also wanted to add some pretty embellishments. I did this by die cutting and layering some flowers and adding lace and ribbon. I have also used a distress ink pad to add a slightly shabby chic look, which is a departure from my usual clean lines.

Products used:
Trimcraft Belle and Boo 6x6 paper pad, Decoupage pad, Ribbon
Trimcraft Sweet Paris Pearls
Docrafts Lace Trim
Trimcraft First Edition Flower Dies
Craft UK card blank
