A weekend of Christenings

Hi everyone. Life is a real whirlwind at the moment but we have had a lovely weekend catching up with family at the Christening of my cousin's son. This is the card I made:

The image is from the Hunkydory Little Book of Moments and Milestones. I have used a piece of Adorable Scorable card for the backing, which I embossed using a diamond embossing folder. I cut some bunting using scraps of card and some twine and added it with some little green buttons.

My mum also requested a card so I made a 6x6 card using the Hunkydory Christening Day topper set, from the Making Memories kit:

The ribbon and gems are both from Hunkydory too.

It was obviously a weekend for Christenings as I was also asked to make a card for a little girl:

This time I used the pink topper from the Hunkydory set and added some pearls and gingham ribbon. This card is an 8x8- I trimmed the top from the A4 card stock before cutting it to size, so that I could have the Christening wording at the top and bottom.

All the little dudes...

Hi everyone. Since Isaac started school we've started to get lots of party invitations. I've found myself making lots of children's cards again, particularly for little boys.

With this in mind, I bought myself Hunkydory's Little Dudes collection. I've always liked Hunkydory products but sometimes don't buy the large kits as I'm unsure how many of the toppers I'll use. However, this kit is perfect for me, with every topper set working for the age groups I need to make for.

This card was for an eight year old:

I cut a strip from the front of the card to expose the inside, where I added an extra topper strip.

My second was for a five year old and is simple but fun:

More birthdays are coming up this month, so I'm sure this kit is going to be a good buy!

A Krafty Christmas

Hi everyone. I told you that I loved the Craftwork Cards Frozen Forest collection so much that I wanted to keep making cards with it, so here are 3 more I have made.

I’ve added them to the Craftwork Cards blog too, for a post about using kraft card with the collection. I used to be quite unsure about kraft card as I am a neat and tidy kind of girl- so wanted to show how effective its use can be.

Although this is a Christmas collection, all of these cards would be equally good for a winter birthday, as there is no mention of Christmas anywhere. I have to say the owl paper is my absolute favourite part of the collection, but it’s all so beautiful.

Frozen Forest

Hi everyone. Yesterday saw two Craftwork Cards shows on Create and Craft TV. I was very lucky to be sent some beautiful embossed card blanks and the main collection to create some samples. Here are a few of my samples- I just love this collection and could have kept going. At least I have lots left to make more Christmas cards.

On both shows, one of my samples was shown in detail. I had used Faded Denim Distress Ink to bring out the snowflakes on the card. It was very gratifying to see Dean and Clare discussing my card. Here's a very close up picture!

This week will see lots of crafting as I have lots of card orders to make. I'm also busy with tutoring but really looking forward to catching up with some friends too.

Halloween at My Besties UK

Hi everyone. Sorry I've been absent from blogland this week- it's been a tough one. I will try to find some time to visit you all this weekend.

Shockingly it's already the 1st October so it's time for a new challenge at My Besties UK. Our theme is Halloween and this is my card:

Happy Birthday Lily

Hi everyone, hope you have had a nice weekend. Ours was, as usual , packed with football and rugby. Now both children are playing both sports, there's no chance for a break!

I've spoken before about the friends we made when our eldest son was a baby and last week one of the children turned 8. I made her a unicorn card:

The image is from a Hunkydory Little Book. I cut it down so it would fit on a 6x6 card. The fabulous rainbow papers are from Trimcraft's Simply Creative Play Days pad. I simply added some sequins and gems.

I was also asked to make a card by her parents. The brief was a purple bike and butterflies:

I found the digi stamp on Etsy and coloured it with Spectrum Noir markers. The butterflies were cut using First Edition dies and the papers and gems are from Trimcraft's Back to Basic range (I mixed from the purple and berry blush collections).

Both cards were well received by the birthday girl. It's hard to believe that the babies we met at baby group are now so grown up!
