Blog Hop at My Besties UK

Hi everyone. Today is, of course, a special day as it's 29th February. As this gives us an extra Monday this month, we have an extra post at My Besties UK and it's a blog hop!

Today, all of the DT are sharing some of their very favourite Sherri Baldy My Bestie projects. To be in with the chance of winning 3 digis of your choice, simply visit all our blogs (the list is below) and leave a comment on their blog hop post, then visit the My Besties UK blog and leave a comment there too. You have until Monday 7th March to take part and I really hope you will join in.

It is so hard to choose a few projects but here are my favourite My Besties cards:

My first card is the birthday card I made for my son using a fab boy Bestie called Dragon Boy.

My second card is my Hallowe'en card, using IMG043. I love the colours of this one.

This card was for our black and white challenge. It was the first time I coloured in black and white. I love this elegant digi IMG031.

My final favourite is this one using Little Cutie Patootie. I just love the colours of this one and it's such a fun image too.

Thanks for visiting today- don't forget to comment and then follow the blog hop for a chance to win x

Geometric Birthday

Hi everyone. Just got back from a very cold morning watching my son play football. His team (Ashcott under 8s) won both their matches so it was worth it.

Today I'm charing another CAS Docrafts Geometric Mono card. For this one I continued the star theme but added a layered banner and vertical sentiment. I found this Happy Birthday stamp in my stash and think it works really well for this geometric look.

Thank you for popping by today and for all your lovely comments. Cathy x

A return to Bohemia

Hi everyone. Today's card is a bit different to my last CAS card and has a much more vintage feel.

For this one I've returned to one of my favourite Trimcraft collections of last year, the Dovecraft Bohemian collection. I've cut the topper from one of the 8x8 papers and layered it up with pretty green and pink papers, a doily and lace. I've used Victorian Velvet Distress Ink on the papers and doily for a more vintage look.

The charm and wooden rose are from the Bohemian collection. I've used Distress Markers on the rose (Spun Sugar for the pink). I have loads of distress markers and must learn to colour properly with them.

Thanks for visiting today and for your lovely comments. I'm off to enjoy the sunshine now :-) x

Geometric Mono

On Saturday I found myself needing a boy's birthday card in a hurry. I hate giving in and buying cards so I put together this quick make using Docraft's Geometric Mono range.  I love this range as it has so many co-ordinating elements- for this card I've just used the the 6x6 papers and a ribbon, along with a star die from the X Cut Star Nesting Dies. I use stars a lot on boy's cards and these dies are my favourite.

To create the star panel I simply made 3 star apertures in a piece of white card using a die and then placed the papers behind the openings. To ensure the stars lined up I drew a pencil line vertically down the centre of the card before cutting.

Although I wanted a CAS card I felt something else was needed. I added a strip of paper and ribbon across the centre of the card before adding the star panel using foam pads.

I'm going to work with this range a bit more this week so watch this space!

Buttons or pearls at Jade's Sparkling Butterflies

Happy Thursday everyone. As I write this the rain is pouring down, a typical half term day, but we have finally had sun this week, hooray! Hopefully we are going to explore the Roman Baths at Bath tomorrow. My eldest son is history obsessed and has been studying the Romans, so it will be a big treat for him.

Today's card is my DT card for the new challenge at Jade's Sparkling Butterflies. Our challenges are always Anything Goes, but this time we have the option of buttons or pearls. I use pearls all the time anyway, so I challenged myself to use buttons instead.

Our sponsor for this challenge is:
I chose this super cute image called Chibi Flowerpot Peeker. Isn't she sweet? This image was an absolute joy to colour too. I added the Just for You sentiment myself and love the way there is a space left to be able to personalise the card in this way.
I began by choosing the papers I wanted to use- these are from the Trimcraft First Edition Love Story 8x8 paper pad. I love the patterns and colours of these papers and so continued those colours in my colouring. I've added some sweet flower buttons and 2 bright pink papers from my stash to finish the card.
The image is coloured with Spectrum Noir markers. The colours used are:
Skin FS2 (I have my favourite marker back!), FS4, FS9, CR2 Eyes TB3
Hair GB2 GB8
Flowers CR2 CR3 PP3 CG1 CG4
Flowerpot TN2 TN3 TN5 TN7
Bug and butterfly BP2 BP3 DR1

Thanks for visiting and commenting today. Hope you enjoy the rest of your week, whatever you have planned.

Same but Different at My Besties UK

Hi everyone. Today is the third Monday of the month so it's time for a new Same but Different post at My Besties UK.

This month all of the DT have used Sherri Baldy's beautiful Fairy img791, which you can purchase here in the My Besties Shop. As always, my fellow DT members have produced beautiful and very different cards for you to see. If you visit today's post and leave a comment, you may win this digi stamp for yourself too.

I chose to use predominately purple for my card. The papers are from the Docrafts Folk Floral collection. The scalloped dies used are from Tonic (Harrop) and the flowers are by Sue Wilson.

The fairy has mainly been coloured using Spectrum Noirs but I used Copic markers for the skin, E000, E00 E21 and R20.

Happy Valentine's Day

Hello and Happy Valentine's Day everyone. Today I wanted to share the card I made for my husband this year. To be honest I wasn't sure if I could get away with pink for a male card but I think this fab black and pink paper works.

The image is a super cute Sherri Baldy My Bestie digi stamp called Hearts a Flutter. I really love this one and you can buy it in the My Besties shop.

The heart die, sentiment stamp and paper are all from Sara Davies' Signature Love and Romance collection from Crafter's Companon. My husband and I have been together since we met at university, nearly 24 years ago, so this sentiment is really appropriate for us.

I found that my favourite pale skin Spectrum Noir marker (FS2) had run out so I was forced to try out a new combination. In the end I quite like the result.
Colours used were:
Skin TN1 TN2 FS1 FS7
Boy:Hair TN4 TN5 TN7 TN8
Clothes TB3 TB4 TB5 IG1 IG2 IG5 IG7
Girl: Hair TN1 EB1 EB2
Clothes PP3 PP5 DR3

Floral Muse

Hi everyone. Hope you have all survived the latest storms. Here in Somerset we had a bad day yesterday, though luckily our town managed to avoid the power cuts that hit others. Today we have actually had snow! It's a very rare thing here and only lasted 10 minutes but my 4 yr old got very excited.

Today I'm sharing 2 cards made using the Trimcraft Dovecraft Floral Muse Collection.

I would like to enter this card for:
Cardz 4 Galz Challenge 15

It's a very pretty collection with gorgeous papers, stamps, sentiment stickers and embellishments like the wooden frames, heart rosettes and lovely paper flowers in the first card. I love this shabby chic look and think it looks great with kraft card. It will be perfect for Mother's Day cards.

Thank you for visiting today. I really appreciate all your comments. Cathy x

Today we have a new challenge at Jade's Sparkling Butterflies and our (optional) theme is Fantasy.

There were so many fabulous images to choose from that I actually asked my 7 year old son help me. He chose this fantastic digi Dragon Ride.

As my son chose the image, I decided to make this card for him. He is at an age where the world is still magical and full of wonder, so I wanted to sum this up with the words I chose. I hope he will find the message inspiring.

Products used:
Dragon Scale papers from The Digital Mengarie
XCut Star Punches
Spectrum Noir Markers (dragon using CR8 CR10 CR11)
Copics (Hair E51 E53 E55)

My Bestie Valentine

Good morning everyone. Not only is it Monday again but, unbelievably, February is here already! Yesterday saw the sad death of yet another British icon, Terry Wogan. He was on the radio and TV throughout my life and another person who, like David Bowie, seemed immortal. I'm certainly glad to see the back of this January.

Today at My Besties UK we have a new challenge Anything Goes with option Buttons and Brads. Don't forget to pop over and see the other DT cards, as they are fabulous as always.

I chose a Valentine image for my card, IMG 452, available to buy here. I chose to colour her in bright pink to complement the new papers I bought recently (from the Sara Davies Crafter's Companion Love and Romance collection).

The colours used were:
Skin FS2 FS4 FS9 CR2
Eyes TB1 TB3
Hair TN1 EB1 EB2
Clothes BP1 BP2 BP6

The dies used are a Tonic Frame die and the Heart Cluster from the Sara Davies collection. My heart shaped buttons are from Trimcraft's Serendipity collection.
