Out of this World

Hi everyone. I've used some of my free time this week to have a play with stamps and inks. One thing I was keen to try was a space background, inspired by some I saw on my crafty friend Jennifer Kray's blog. I combined my finished background with Hunkydory For the Love of Stamps Out of this World stamps.

For the space background, I used Distress Inks on watercolour card. I began by blending Squeezed Lemonade, Picked Raspberry and Seedless Preserves inks. I then darkened the background with Faded Jeans DI, then used Black Soot around the edges and in the corners. I spritzed with water, allowed it to dry and then used a toothbrush to help me flick white acrylic paint over the background.

For the moon I cut part of a circle from watercolour card. I scribbled a grey Spectrum Aqua marker onto my glass mat, spritzed it with water then dipped in some bubble wrap. I pressed this onto my card for a crater effect.

The stamps were stamped using Memento and coloured with Spectrum Noir markers. I had to hand cut them as my Scan n Cut won't cut at the moment so they're a bit rough!

My eldest son is going to give this card to his Dad for Father's Day- though he'll be doing it on Sunday evening as he is off to his very first Cub Camp tomorrow. I will admit to being a very nervous Mummy today!

Have a lovely weekend, whatever you have planned x
