From my heart to yours

Hi everyone. Hope you all had a great weekend.

Today I'm sharing a card I made for Hunkydory using the new Mirri Magic collection. It was a lovely collection to work with and the Mirri finish adds real depth to the toppers. This was probably my favourite of my DT samples, using the Love Letters topper set and matching card:

1. I started by adding bright pink mirri card to an 8x8 card blank. I then added a slightly smaller piece of the heart cardstock.

2. I cut a 12cm square of pink shimmer Adorable Scorable cardstock and added it to a slightly larger piece of pink mirri card. I placed this onto the centre of the card.

3. I added the topper and frame to the centre of the card, placing the centre frame at an angle. I raised the central topper on foam pads.

I like the way the pink shimmer card can be seen through the frame of the topper. Luckily enough, I have been gifted an extra set of this collection so this card is a real contender for a Valentine card for my husband.

Thank you for visiting today and for your lovely comments x

Be my Valentine

Hi everyone.

Today I have a blog post on the Craftwork Cards blog. For today's post I made some mini gift bags from 8x8 tartan papers.

Whilst I was making the bags, I also made a CAS card to match.

All of the details of how to make these bags are in my blog post, so please do take a look if you would like instructions.

Thank you for visiting today and for you lovely comments.

Ombre

Hi everyone. Hope you all had a good weekend. We all went to see 'Sing' at the cinema yesterday and the whole family really enjoyed it. I definitely recommend it even if you don't have young children.

Last week, Hunkydory Crafts released a brand new Adorable Scorable card range in Ombre shades. I was delighted to make some cards for the launch- it really is beautiful and sadly my photos don't really do it justice.

These two cards use pages from the Little Book of Quotes and Wisdom:

These two use images from the Little Book of Enchanted Moments:

Finally this card uses the Little Book of Little Dudes and Perfect Princesses:

In all my samples, I tried to show how well the card cuts and embosses. I saw most of my cards on the Create and Craft shows- I also feel relieved if they look good in close up! The heart card was on the counter and had a lot of on screen time (it's next to Dean's elbow!).

Hope you have a good week. I have a few quiet days ahead and look forward to catching up on some blog visits. Thanks for visiting and commenting today.

Pampered Pets

Hi everyone. Hope you had a good weekend. I spent both mornings watching my eldest play football and rugby. It was cold but worth it- he has such fun and has made so many friends. Even better his teams won in both sports, they have progressed so much in a few months.

Today I'm sharing the rest of my Craftwork Cards Pampered Pets samples and it's the turn of the dogs. This collection has been a big hit and I can see why. I particularly love the bright colours.

These are my dog cards:

I think my favourite is the pug- I distressed the papers and toppers with some Victorian Velvet distress ink then added lace and pearls.

Thank you for visiting and commenting today, I really do appreciate it. Cathy x

The cat's whiskers

Hi everyone. I had a very busy but lovely day yesterday- I teach in Gloucestershire twice a month so I had a drive up to Cirencester and back in the sunshine. I managed to combine it with a visit to an ex colleague (he calls me his work mum) who now works there and it was lovely to catch up with him. Hopefully today will be quieter though.

Today Craftwork Cards are launching a new collection called Pampered Pets and I LOVE it! The images are great and the papers are fabulous bright colours.

Now I like both cats and dogs but it's cats I love most so I thought I'd share my cat sample cards with you first.

For this card, I cut the two cats from a topper and sat them in a heart aperture to make a cute Valentine Card.

For my second card, I used gems to add lots of sparkle and create a girly look:

However my favourite card of all has to be the one featuring my gorgeous cat, Muffin:

For this card I created a photo frame with an acetate window and placed my photo behind it. I raised the frame on foam pads so I could add a few sequins behind it. I cut the princess cat from a topper- I love this image as all cats think they are royalty! I finished the card with a few more sequins and a sentiment.

I'll share some dog cards another day but would love to know what you think of this clowder of cats.

A big adventure

Hi everyone. Hope you are all well. I still can't shake my cold and it's driving me crazy!

Today I'm sharing a scrapbook page I have made using Craftwork Cards Great Outdoors collection:

The picture was taken when my sons were 3 and 7. My mum and dad bought them a teepee and they spent a happy afternoon playing in and around it. The designs of this collection were perfect for recording this memory.

You can read more about the project on the Craftwork Cards blog.

A January Birthday

Hi everyone and a belated Happy New Year. All over Christmas I had promised myself that this week would be the week I got organised. I planned to do some exercise, to do lots of crafting and blogging and to get back to regularly visiting everyone's blogs. It hasn't happened like that at all- instead I've been hit by the worst cold I've had for years and I've struggled to do anything! I'm starting to feel better today so will slowly get back to normal in the next couple of days.

I have made one card, for a friend's birthday yesterday. She hates having a January birthday so I always try to make her a pretty, cheerful card.

In the end, being unwell meant I made a mich simpler card than I had planned but it is still pretty. The topper is a Colorista card which I coloured with some of the new Spectrum Noir Vintage and Nature markers I treated myself to last week. The flowers are glittered, which is hard to photograph!

I made a simple background using Craftwork Cards New Traditional Tartan papers matted with Hunkydory Mirri card from the 50 Shades Darker set.

Hope you have all had a good week and I look forward to catching up with your blogs today x
