Sweet Paris card

I have so many projects to share at the moment that I just had to write another blog post.

I love Trimcraft's Sweet Paris collection and I was lucky enough to win a lot of the elements a couple of months ago. The colours are very spring like and the papers have a vintage feel.

To make this card, I made a z-fold card base from Creative Expressions foundation card. I then layered papers from the Sweet Paris 6x6 pack onto the front and inside. I inked the edges of the paper with Victorian Velvet distress inks, to give the layers more dimension, and used a die to cut a frame shape for final layer inside the card. I made the Eiffel Tower topper using the Sweet Paris die set and finished the card with an accordian sticker, bow, a stamped sentiment and some co-ordinating pearls.

Easter gift card

I found a tutorial for this fab Easter gift card on the Trimcraft website and you can find full instructions here:

My card is slightly taller than theirs so I used a piece of card 15cm x 27.5 cm and I chose to make my card using Hunkydory Crafts Easter Wishes card and topper set.

Two things are essential for a project like this: a good scoring tool (I use a Hougie Board) and a good strong card, so I used Adorable Scorable card to make the card base and drawers. You also need strong adhesive so I used both red Ultra Strong tape and Cosmic Shimmer glue.

I decorated the inside of the card with the printed cardstock and used the foiled card for the front of the card and to decorate the drawers. I then used the large Easter Wishes topper on the front, with one decoupage layer.

As you can see, it's big enough for my favourite Easter goodies but would be excellent for mini versions too (you may need to make an acetate lid for those though) x

Trimcraft 10 minute challenge card

Usually I spend lots of time on cards but when I saw the 10 minute card challenge on the Trimcraft website, I thought it would be interesting to see what I could make in such a short time. It also gave me an opportunity to use some of the Belle and Boo collection, with its fabulous images and fresh colour pallette.
I helped myself by using a ready made topper, doily and bow. I also used a favourite layout. All I had to do was trim the paper and layer the elements to create this simple but very pretty card.

Smudge and Mitten Z-fold Thank You Card

I fell in love with Hunkydory Craft's ultra cute Smudge and Mitten collection as soon as I saw it (and my children love it too). As well as the card kit, I bought the Luxury Paper Pad and that's what I used to make this very sweet thank you card.
The base card here is Hunkydory Adorable Scorable cardstock, which I have folded into a Z-fold card. I love this fold, as it makes full use of pretty papers and makes a great statement card. To make the base, I cut a 14cm x 28cm piece of card then scored across the long edge at 7cm and 14cm.
I layered papers from the pad onto the front and back panels of the card. At this point you could secure a ribbon around the front and back of the card to create a tied z-fold card, but I chose not to for this card. I cut a rectangle of card then layered this with paper and a cute image cut from the pad.
To finish the card, I cut a tag sentiment from the pad and added this to the front panel with a tiny bow. I then cut bunting from scraps of paper, secured this to the front and back panels and finished with a few gems.

It's a Hit

My first cardmaking love was Hunkydory Crafts. The first major purchase I made, after the basics, was Crafting with Hunkydory Compendium 1 and from then on I have remained loyal to the brand.
The kits that Hunkydory produce are fantastic for beginners but I have continued to use them as I have become more confident. Personally, I have found that it is possible to find a Hunkydory topper suitable for anyone- and once you have found it, then it is so easy to make a personalised card.
For this card, I have taken a HD topper sheet and coordinating cardstock (It's a Hit) and, with a little imagination and a printer, turned it into a perfect card for a musician with a vinyl obsession. It would be impossible to find a card with all of his favourite bands on in the shops. I have deliberately given the album labels a handmade, DIY look, to fit in with the self-labelling of records and tapes we did in the '80s. Look carefully and you will see that one of the bands featured is Mr Keep Calm and the Cancelled Cheques, the recipients own band.
I love this card, it was such fun to make, and I was so pleased with the end result.

Lace and doilies

I find myself a little bit obsessed with lace and doilies at the moment and they team up so well with my current favourite Simply Floral collection from Docrafts.
For this card I chose a piece of 6x6 floral paper. Before I stuck it to a card blank,  I took a contrasting border strip from the A4 Ultimate Die-cut pack and placed it across the middle of the card and layered with lace and ribbon. It's much easier to do this before you stick the paper down, as you can wrap the ribbon ends around the back, which makes for a neat finish. I completed the card with a doily, notelet, sentiment and bow.
A simple but very pretty card for Mother's Day.
